Bruce do you do the carving with a knife or different chisels? These have always intreged me...

Actually all three. Also use a Fordom motor with aggressive bits to hog out the bulk wood to get the basic shape, then the chisels and gouges and finally, the Electer GX to do the finer details. After all that, I'll go back and wood burn every feather, then it will be ready for a base coat of Gesso white primer sealer and painting. I will show you all these steps as it progresses. The first step will be to trace a pattern onto the wood blocks to start the rough out process.

Received my Tupelo Knife today. Had trouble finding one. Also drew the center line on both pieces. Hope to trace the pattern soon and start the rough out process, before it gets too cold outside.
