I have started this one in the last couple days. Mostly gonna be out of the box, build. Maybe grab a spare part or two out of the bin. Started with this kit. Recent re-issue from AMT. Nice lot of parts. Even has blue windows! Good decal sheet, too! This cardboard base was in the kit. The bottom is curled up, but I think I can still use it. This steering linkage gave me a time! It's close to where it belongs, without scratching a whole new one! Good enuff for a shelf sitter! Dechroming went well. Tossed these in the Clorox and overnight, they came out like this. Not too bad. More later as I plod along with this little buggy!

I wasn't too keen about using the VW rear lights from the kit. I like the early Mustang lights, but didn't wanna rob a kit for those. So, I dug around in my spare parts. Came up with some headlights to do this to: Tamiya Clear Red and Clear Orange on the front. BMF on the back. Drilled the body to accept the pegs on the backs of these lights, and I like how they look.

I didn't like the kit tires too much. The dune tires for the back are two piece plastic. I chose these Bridgestone Mud Duelers for the back, and some Good Year Polyglass for the front. The baby moons are from the kit. I added the black ring in the bottom of each wheel with a Sharpie.

I sanded the molded in gauges off the dashboard. I had this self adhesive stuff in the decal department. The gauges are from a Monogram Monte Carlo kit. The steering wheel is from the MANX kit.

I put a little color on it today, if ya can call 'white' a color! One Coat White Lightning. Looks a little silver here, but it's white, like a diamond dust color. Shows a little more white in this mockup.

I covered the back seat cover with Scale Motorsports upholstery decal: After clearcoat and polish, I've finished the build. I used a different base for this shot: Top added. This shot has no seat cover: With seat cover: Thanks for looking in!!
