And the last major structural alteration is nearly done. Behold the radar pod, now glued down to the belly panel and faired in with epoxy putty: Next for this area is some rattlecan Tamiya primer, followed by any additional sanding and filling that needs to be done. I sanded down the back of the chin fairing a bit more to make the nose gear fit better, so that will also get re-primed. I will want to get the nose gear bay pretty much done before I do the primer work, though. The metal nose gear will need priming along with everything else. And there's work to do on the nose gear doors, too. They need something done to represent the actuation arms, probably just some slices of suitable half-round stock. When all that's done, it will be time to attach the wings and deal with the main landing gear. At that point, updates will get scarce because the model won't fit in my little tabletop light box. I do have a bigger one that fills a card table (and then some...), but it's a bit of a pain to set up and definitely a challenge to light properly.

Coming along nicely fella! You don't need to take excellent photos of the work in progress, just the finished product! Keep on updating!!!

Another milestone: The main landing gear is on and the superglue is curing. I quickly attached the tires and slid the wings into the fuselage. Lo and behold, the Neptune sits on her wheels! I've pulled the wings again and set them aside upside-down so that the main gear can set up, but I am immensely relieved about two things: The belly radome clears the ground plane, and the model isn't a taildragger.
