Thanks folks
it'll be more than a few days - I'll be building and painting them on a one til its done basis, its far easier on my eyes and diminishing patience levels. These days I stop and walk away from a build if its annoying me for some reason
What's annoying me at present is today I woke up with a slight headache, dry throat and watery eyes, by lunchtime all China had the plague and I'm full up with flu, going round the Doc tomorrow,(after I've been to my eye specialist for an eye test -its new glasses time) A rat test has indicated it ain't the dreaded covid, so its flu. If a rat test indicates its not covid, have you passed or failed the test ? Methinks there's no correct answer to that, although some very competant answers for both sides are available.
As for sitting at the desk, playing with teeny bits - not at present, my eyes are not interested in focussing on anything... I'm listening to the TV at present, I'm facing it, but the screen is just a blur of colour. I hate the flu !

Full up with flu, its more than a tad wet and rather LOUD round here at present....
See the phoros below, outside my door...just after it started...
And at 90 degrees to the first photo..
That's not snow, its hail... got a lot more than that later on, the whole place looked like an xmas scene, the weather forecast said a few showers, weakening and less likely in the afternoon, no mention of thunderstorms and hail ! Says Sunny with temps in the low 20's (centigrade) tomorrow, hope they got that one right ! It got loud because my place has a corrogated iron roof.. everything's dry inside, thank goodness, although at the height of it, it did sound like somebody was machine gunning the windows !
I had to scrap my eye test appontment today, was too full of flu - it never rains does it ?
Ah well, life goes on in enevitable fashion as usual

At the rate I'm going (one til its done), it'll be a fair old while til I get even slightly interested in buying any new kits.
Decided to do this pair as my next two, if they come out alright, I'll grab a couple of UM kits from the same box.
Going to do the medium production (top), example first, before messing about with the brass screens on the late. Will try a new trick I heard about on the roadwheels, all airbrush, no going crosseyed with a brush necessary. t'll be a real time saver if it works. I'll detail it when the painting starts if anybody's interested.

Thanks folks
The wheel technique is one I read about for 35th, but as I found, it works just as well in 72nd, just a matter of adjusting the air pressure (16-18psi), and the paint to thinner ratio (roughly 20% paint, in my case very roughly) and tightening the spray pattern down to a smallish dot before spraying. I'll detail it at the relevant point in the painting stages, as usual, I'll be building the thing entirely before painting, as I do with 35ths (all wheels on the vehicle, only the tracks and main skirts not attached before painting, turret skirts are attached before painting.
I did play with 3 72nd tanks I found somewhere in the depths of my stash over xmas, didn't take photos and gave the finished items to a kid from down the street, only did the things to see if I could still get a semi-decent result from them. One was a Dragon Pz IV H, which I did the wheel trick on and it came up ok.
Jed, the brass ain't nothing special, its Dragon's usual 72nd stuff, stiffish but easily worked with. at least its not soft and tiny and of no-see-um nature, like what you normally get with 700th ship kits. I'm not anticipating any problems with it.
Only delay in starting at present is this rotten flu I've picked up, watery anf non focussing eyes are not helping, badly need new glasses but can't go to the eye specialist til I've got shot of the flu, can't be coughing all over the specialist or her equipment - that wouldn't be at all nice. π€§

Finally feeling a tad better, eyes seem to be working this morning
A start has been made on the mid, early days yet, roadwheels assembled, bogies on the hull, next stage is to get rhe wheels and return rollers onto the hull, No problems yet encountered, fairly plain sailing, pics later, having a cuppa and giving my eyes a rest atmo

[/font] Well.. moving along, the lower hull is fully assembled and painted, as are the undersides of the mudguards and the inside of both the turret and hull skirt armour. π The roadwheels have also been assembled and painted a certain shade..(Tamiya Acryl XF-2 Flat Black) ..π All paint is Tamiya Acryl, sprayed at 16 PSI thru my Sparmax DH-102 with a .2mm nozzle and needle combination. π€« Next step is to get the roadwheels onto the hull and hit them (VERY Carefully !) with the base camo shade (Tamiya XF-88 Dark Yellow 2), already sprayed on the various bits in the above photos...No masking necessary at all, just the experience and ability to set the airbrush and paint/thinner ratio, plus the air pressure up properly for the job...Tyros need not apply π That's for tomorrow though, I'm resting my eyes til they can again focus on these teeny monsters ! π€― Off to have some lunch and a cuppa and (probably) a burp or three..π³ Best Gomez of resuming play slowly πππ€§

Got the roadwheels on it last night, so's construction could continue today...
Unfortunately, I rather doubt anything will happen today, my eyes ain't playing the game, too much focussing on leetle beets yesterday may be the cause ππ€
Sorry all ! π³ Will try again tomorrow.

I know the feeling, Gomez. These giant floaters I have in my eyes are pesky brutes, to say the least! Most times, I gotta wait til they settle to the bottom of my eyes before I can look at the modeling bits.

My floaters are tiny, but there's miles of the things and they interfere with my sight when the cataracts ain't... Eye specialist jokes about me coughing too much and breaking large floaters up into lots of little ones. I don't find that funny for some reason.
Anyhoo, my eyes seem to be working today, so a bit more will git dun on the Mid, hopefully, I'll git the hull dun and the tracks on and make a start on the Turret. Won't be fitting the hull skirt armour til the turret's on, sometimes if you fit the hull skirts before the turret goes on, you gotta finagle the turret and its skirts into place horribly carefully. Much easier to fit the turret and its skirts first. Doesn't work that way in 35th, just the nature of the wee beasties
