... And Awaaaaay we go π
All 35th unless otherwise stated...
Itsleri Crusader III AA needs weathering...
Tamiya Marder II and Takom PzKpfw III N need their tracks painted, followed by camo patterns, decals and weathering...
Cyber Hobby Flakpanzer IV Kugelblitz needs a bit more work...
As does the Meng Panther A (late) ...(I seem to be going for the world's most drawn out build with this one !
The 72nd Dragon PzKpfw IV J (mid) has copped its camouflage and only needs markings, tracks painted and weathering to complete....
Finally, the 72nd Dragon PzKpfw IV J (late) has started construction, early days yet, but its on the line and being worked on...
That's wotz happening on my bench at present, there's a 72nd He-111 around the place somewhere as well, I'm calling it stalled til I find it again...

I kinda like the Pz III myself, it went together absolutely no dramas style. There's all sorts of bods reported trouble with that kit, but I didn't have any problems with it at any stage, just took my time and followed the destructions and it pretty well fell together. I can't wait to get my hands on their recently released version of that kit with the Winterketten (wider winter tracks), which, if it assembles as easily and as well as this one did, should be a winner all round.
I kinda like the camo job I managed to pull off on the teeny (72nd) Pz IV J too, that was one from my late mate's collection of unbuilts that he'd intended me to build for him, so I was determined to do it justice, I think I pretty much succeeded at that.
Best Gomez of still busy ππ

They do have their way less than funny moments...π
Like the Meng Panther, its copping Meng's decal Zimmerit, the stuff is cut to size perfectly and works as advertised (providing you've removed all trace of sprue nubs etc;), but as they dry, the edges of the decals lift. Meng advise using superglue on a knife blade twixt decal and model to fix the problem. I've tried various decal setters/solvents but none work on the decals, so I used Tamiya extra thin cement and glued the edges of the lil boogers down. That's fixed 'em but good ! Got a few more zim decals to apply on it yet, but she's getting there finally... Wonder what the next curve ball it throws at me will be ? π²π€―
Couldn't get any worse than its already been, now could it ? π€¬π€«Best Gomez of muttered imprecations of a frustrated nature ππ

They weren't π€―π€¬π€« nor will the rest of them on the rear boxes and the turret gun mantlet be anything like fun (all curves there ! ππ€¬
Oh well, had a bit more fun (eyestrain wise), getting the 72nd Mk IV J's turret crosses and names (first stage of gun barrel), onto it . Main problem was with aligning the 3 crosses on the turret skirts and getting the names in the right places, they're way too small to be legible ! Thank goodness I didn't have to worry about turret numbers, that'd be a killer for my eyes, all the numbers are printed singly on the kit's decal sheet !
Here's how it looks now... all ready for weathering and final finishing π, hopefully on the morrow, its second in the weathering queue, behind the 35th Crusader AA
Onward and whichever ways up (or thereabouts) π Best Gomez of having a breather (and me dinner !) ππ

Glad somebody thinks so...π€
Kugelblitz is complete, apart from tracks (indy link, oh what fun)ππ€―
Meng Panther A needs a few more bits and a bit more Zimmerit plus its tracks to get to the paint stage...
Starting to think about what might be next (deffo another Pz IV variant, plus one other)...π
That's where I'm at for the nonce.

That Kugelblitz is one I haven't seen before... interesting turret armor...

The outer armour on the turret might stop a rifle or MG bullet, nothing bigger, don't know about the intended thickness of the inner turret "ball" with the guns... Kugelblitz was at the plywood mock-up turret stage when the war ended, the inner ball rotated about its horizontal axis, allowing for gun elevation, it was mounted into the conical outer turret via an axle in the turret ring, the outer turret did the traversing. Guns were to have been a pair of 30mm Flak, intended for U-Boat use, there was a variation on the Flakpanzer 38(t) chassis, mounting one of the 30mm's which saw limited production/service. As far as is known, Kugelblitz did not get to the full prototype stage, although there was a legend saying that up to 5 of them were used against advancing Soviet infantry (like most small calibre quickfiring Flak guns, they had a useful secondary role against infantry, in a role known as "Meat Grinders"), but there's no proof (or wreckage, to prove that it ever happened, the photos, purporting to be Kugelblitz wrecks do not show anything that would mark the wrecks as definitely Kugelblitz, therefore the tale seems unlikely. Had Kugelblitz ever been produced as a prototype, there would be documentary proof in the records of one of the factories responsible for Mk IV and variants production.
There was a Panther variant intended to carry the Kugelblitz turret, which has been the subject of a recent Takom (think its Takom), kit in 35th, so the mock-up of the intended turret may have been dropped onto a Pz IV chassis, like the Panther "Scmallturm", intended for the Panther II (and also intended for use on the Panther F) was used.
Historian/researcher (pertaining to tanks that interest me personally), hat off π€

Moving along...
Kugelblitz has its basic camo colour applied and its tracks have been fitted... Next stop, a spray of camo, followed by the hairy stick on the tracks, roadwheel tyres and tools. π
Panther A has copped some paint, but not enough (blasted what remained in the airbrush cup onto it after I finished the Kugelblitz) no photos of that yet, its not too pretty atmo.π€

You definitely still have skills for 1/72 scale, and your larger scale models are looking most impressive. Way to go on the quality and quickness in getting these done. Looking forward to seeing more.

Cheers Folks π
Jed, Don't know about the Academy Tigers in Seventy-Tooth, so I personally cannot comment on them, Having said that, Academy are pretty well known for their easy builds in 35th and 72nd aircraft (of which I've built way more than a few) so I doubt you'll have any problems with it.
Breaking News... I'm calling the Crusader AA dun and consigning it to the shelf of display
The Panzer IIIN ain't too far away, neither is the Marder (Photos of that later, when its weathering has dried) Here's the Pz III N
Best Gomez of busy...ππ
