I got this message last night from Dee, Bruce's sister. Thank you for being Bruce's friend. So sorry to report that Bruce left his in-life journey with us very peacefully on May 21. He was my dear, sweet big brother and I miss him terribly, but I am comforted knowing that he did not pass in pain. His ashes will be interred with military honors at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA on June 15 (9:30 to 10am, prompt). If you have never been to such a ceremony they are inspirational. This will be followed by an informal Gathering of Friends afterwards in Hoodsport (several miles west) around noon at the Potlatch Brewery. You are more than welcome to attend either or both gatherings. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or to one of Bruce's: Disabled American Veterans (dav.gov), Hospice HomeHealth of Jefferson County (hospicefoundationjhc.org), or Northwind Art Center in Port Townsend (northwindart.org). Thanks for checking in. Dee Bruce was one of the first members here on OSM and was a fantastic artist in anything he picked up. Models, watercolor painting, carvings, metalwork and so much more! He was an outdoor enthusiast and loved riding his Victory. I was blessed to spend a day with him last summer. He was a big bear of a man, but had a gentle spirit! I'm gonna miss my big brother who taught me much about loving the moments we have! Shortly after our visit he shared with me that he had been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and to not tell anyone on the forums. He didn't want people feeling sorry for him and he wanted to fight a good fight. He fought a good fight and he is in a much better place now and pain free! RIP Bruce!!! You will not be forgotten!!! Joe
Bruce's Pride and Joy which he rode in many honor guard funerals across Western Washington for our fallen soldiers! Bruce served in the Navy!

I started this forum on July 31, 2011. Two weeks later, on August 13, 2011, dogfish7, AKA Bruce, AKA Oz, joined in. He is listed as number four on the members page, as far as registration date. I always appreciated Oz hanging in there with this forum, through the years, especially when things were rather thin around here. Thanks for being a big part of this site, and rest in peace.

So sad to hear this news as I knew Bruce both here and on a couple other forums. He was always quick to support other modelers and was one of the friendliest people I've met online. He will be sorely missed...RIP.

Wow, another one gone that I so wanted to meet! I didn't know of his diagnosis obviously for the reasons stated. However, being a cancer survivor myself, I would have loved to have kept his spirits up through our shared fight. No worries; what's done is done and his wishes were followed. I knew something must have been going on since it had been awhile since he'd posted last. I too am deeply saddened at seeing this. I will always appreciate his constant support posting on my Threads.
RIP Bruce, you are truly a magnificent person!

RIP Bruce, you are truly a magnificent person! Yeah he was very quiet about it except for his plein air watercolor painting group who he spent every Thursday with painting while he could. I was told last summer by him and we talked a lot on the phone as after our visit there we became really close! I do treasure those moments for sure!

I remember him being on some of the other sites years back. Always was real nice in his posts. Didn't realize who he was until I started looking at this site. I always thought he was from Australia because of him always putting oz at the end of his post, duh. RIP Bruce. Wish I could've got to know you.

It has been a long time since I posted here.
I was deeply saddened to read of Bruce's passing. I appreciated his comments and enjoyed what he posted. He was very talented in whatever he chose to do. It was he who convinced me to buy a Paasche Vision. He was right, as usual,it is a nice brush.
My sympathy goes out to his family and to those here on the forum who have lost a brother.
May he rest in peace.
Jim
