I'm very surprised that left the QC department. Just too obvious of a flaw.

My aplogies for the extended absence fellas. On the way to work late last week my 406 in my truck broke a rocker stud off on the #5 cylinder. I've seen alot of things but never a broken rocker stud. I've seen 'em pull out but never break. The culprit was a collapsed lifter which I'm getting warrantied out and was going to have to remove the heads and have my machinist put in screw in studs. The thing is that is going to take a week or better on that end and I'm waiting to hear back from the vendor on the lifter warranty. I still had my old 383 in the garage so I elected to pull the 406 and install the 383 in its place so I can have wheels in the meantime. I may go with the aluminum heads that I want on the 406 now. In any case I spent all day last Friday swapping out engines and got it all tuned and ready to go the next morning. After that, the company that I've been contracted out to for the last eight years is ready to absorb us into the company so I've spent the last week getting my resume together and completing the application process. The "interview" is slated for this next Monday so I'm ready to get this all going.
Sunday was my wifes B-day so I had been prepping for that for a week. So....with all THAT being said I'm just now getting back to you.
I'll get some progress on this puppy soon gang.

Base painted subframe with modified spindles to drop the front end for a lower stance up front along with the mostly completed bare engine: I purchased my first two MAD prewired distributors. I've gotta say that I am definitely impressed. This cut my time in like 1/10th of the time from drilling the OOB distributors and inserting the ignition wire myself and look GREAT!!! They come in all kinds of cap and wire colors.

That's one stonking beauty of a lump Thanks AG. This one's coming together a little more quickly than it would've normally I think in part because I took the time to research the kit flaws and building techniques concerning this kit. Managed to get the engine mostly done on this rascal. I'm mostly happy with this but that goofy looking fan clutch I'm glad to say will be mostly hidden in the fan shroud. Then I managed to shoot a coat of semi-gloss black on the chassis followed by a light over coat of super thinned out gray which helped to tone things down some and bring out some of the details. I also installed an engine oil dipstick on the driver's side of the engine. Here's everything all fitted up and ready to go now.

Thanks Joe. Sorry about the absence all week gang. I'll try to get all caught up with what everyone else has been doing lately this weekend. Busy as heck at work AND at home but I've managed some bench time. I've been working on the dash pretty much all week and it's not the easiest of dashes to negotiate in terms of modeling. I feel that I've turned out a lot better ones than this, but you'll see what I've got to work with. Here's what I started with: I ended up cleaning things up a bit flash wise and drilling out all the gauge impressions. I had some gauges from Goffer Racing that I used for the smaller gauges but used the OOB ones for the speedo and tach to stay as close to OEM look as possible. I then cut them down to squares and glued them in from the back side. The swing pedal levers were then thinned out to a truer to scale thickness and the whole dash was painted up and detailed. The "Camaro" emblem on the glove box was a PE offering from Model Car Garage and the radio face station tuning decal was from the spares box.

I like that idea of drilling out and glued from the back side... gives it depth!!! Nice!!!

Thank you Joe and Jed!! She had a great birthday and we all had a good day together with her. Always a blessing to be granted another year. Heck....it's blessing to be granted another day. lol. Interview went great and I am completing the hiring process this week. By next week I should be wearing a new uniform. Here is the completed interior. I made a couple of changes and a few upgrades to what was already there OOB. I didn't like the fake looking shifter lever so I made my own from a bobby pin. PE adorns areas of the dash and a set of keys now hang from the ignition switch.

Next step......wheels and tires. As you can see in the comparison photo below, molded tire lettering removal in progress and the replacement logo decals below... and then after the molded lettering removal and decal application. These are now ready for the dullcoat treatment.

Yeah, when I was trying to select a color for this one I was like, "Light Green...hmm...nope! Gold.....hmmm..uh uh! Blue....blah! Yellow.....yuck!!.......Rasp....Raspberry Red??? Now THAT looks sharp!!". I haven't seen that shade of red before, so I automatically fell in love with it and I don't have any darker red cars in my build collection.
