Hello there gents I am so excited to finally post a full build again. I have had this kit by Thunder Model on my to do list for awhile so its nice to see it here. Like I said I will be posting daily progress so please check it out when you get a chance. The kits are mostly by Thunder Model. This will be WW2 British unit stationed in North Africa 1942 after a huge battle. It will not be a massive diorama like the last one but more like a elaborate base.

Day one and the engine is done. I didn't spend too much time here since it wont be seen.
Added some fuel lines and throttle linkage. I forgot to mention these trucks have a ton of refence available so finding what I need was a breeze. I guess the British are very fond of this truck as they should be it was used well after the war for various jobs. One photo showed it moving a house! I also found some extra detail parts from Resicast. There is a PE set available but opted to just stick with resin and plastic. That's about it for now. On to the chassis.
I bought this from Pocket Mags. Great photo ref
Part one of the resin upgrades allows for the front wheels to turn and additional details.
Part 2 Breathers, Seat padding and radiator cover.

More progress. As you could see this truck and trailer has a ton of parts so building modular is how I like to manage it all. So far I have the base frame and some attachments completed. This will also help me in painting them in sections so I can hit every detail. If I was to build it all and then paint I miss a lot of details and effects. I did paint the engine and greased it up to show you what I mean. I don't know how you guys do it but this is my process and it works most of time. The resin parts and other accessories arrive today so no more hold ups.
The engine is only in for pics. Ill glue it down soon as I paint the frame.
Here is my arsonal of weathering effects I use on nearly every engine I build. The far right tamiya jar is AMMO by MIG engine oil. The oil even smell like oil.
The frame and modular sections built so far.

Looking fantastic, Jon. Particularly like your application of the "asphalt" color.
You're definitely giving me inspiration and ideas for my kit!

Brilliant job with such an iconic truck. I've always loved the Scammel and remember doing the Airfix 1/72 back in the day. We sometimes have one come near my house with the London to Brighton run of service vehicles.
