my one and only Matchbox vehicle. My sister used to manage a charity shop and was given for her to keep some Matchbox cars by a regular customer who's husband had passed away leaving a small collection.

The crane itself is immaculate, not a mark on it, a shame about the box but I don't think we're were kept thinking of the future, just one mans hobby of collecting

I never kept the boxes, either. They all went into one big box when playtime was over.

Me too Bucky, I think the child who looked to the future or just wanted to look at them was is the exception. Probably be classed as a nerd I guess!!

Well, I reckon I must have been a semi-nerd. I played with some and kept some just to look at. I to this day have the full 1967 1-75 set, some without a mark and some well played with. I guess I am a nerd now as they are all on display and sometimes I just set and look at em! Lots of good memories there.

Haha yo may be so but without people saving and cherishing things what would we have to look back at!!? If I had the time space and money I'd be buying up just about everything from my youth, especially the stuff I would have liked but wasn't affordable on my dads income.

Back in the early 80's, my Matchbox, Hot Wheels, and all my AFX slot track stuff was donated to two young boys, ages 8 and 10, who had tragically lost their dad. At the time, I wasn't using the collection, anyway.

Gave those little guys my old comic books, too. Found out later that one of them was worth a couple thousand. Oh, well!

One of these days I will give all these to someone. I have two grandsons and neither one are interested in these. They just look at em and ask---"What are they good for"? I guess I will make some junk dealer very happy or some collector have a great day. So yeah, I guess I was (AM) a nerd. I think I have a pocket protecter somewhere.

JC it sounds to me like you have normal type grandsons, you're lucky. I rarely see kids today that play with cars of any kind or are even interested in them. Kids today don't know what they miss by not building roads, cities, and what not in the dirt and sand piles. When I was a kid we used our imagination and brain to play and have fun. Today they use a keyboard. Something else, when I wanted to call a friend, I had to "Dial" their number on a phone that hung on the wall. I also had to use the number I kept stored in my head. I couldn't tell my phone to call Jimmy. Was the progress worth it?

It was much better when we were kids brother... my kids both have given their children a good love of being outdoors being creative and limited screen time. I am thankful for that!!!

Wow what a great collection, my two kids grew up with the technology boom I suppose but both learnt to use their imaginations, make things. They always enjoyed messing with my tools if I was doing any DIY or work on the car. Other parents couldn't believe I let them use drills, hammers, saws etc. It's paid dive dens for my daughter who has remodelled their house from, tiling, painting, fitting a kitchen and laying floors!! Unfortunately we don't have a collection of old cars though!! 😟
