Jed's Goodbye 2020 Build

Well I can now confirm I am in and I've started, only 17/2 scale but it was I case my idea failed miserably ans I ended up wasting money, it could still fail but hopefully not.
I took my inspiration from the picture of the blue Kubelwagen. I made my first mistake by not realising that the cover on top of the engine bay actually opened up to allow stowage behind th back seat and glued the one piece seat base and cover in place but have since cut half away and am thinking of cutting the cover away so that I can have it open showing more stowage area. That cab and truck back are not fixed in place yet.

Cool idea Jed. Just one question through on the side bed rails? In the original photo its hard to tell but don't they only come to the halfway height of the window?

Hi Joe, yes they do, also the bed looks to be level with the top of the rear mudguard which would mean cutting the rear deck down too,for this a bed would have to be made with a shallower step to cover the engine still,as I'd made the mistake of glueing a step too far I didn't want to cut even more out and risk breaking something, I still have time to re-think the build and maybe I should attempt the cut. 🤔

Well I had half hour of fetling last night and did a bit more chopping about,side bed rails lowered and the rear deck cut out, also I chopped and re-fitted the boot lid but fitted it so that it is upside down and in theory wilful do open downwards instead of up 🤔! A bit more to do before priming.

Cutting down the bed made a big difference, I think replacing the wood will make it perfect.

If you use two layers of flat stock you can cut out the ovals windows like in the picture on the top layer and then glue to a solid piece leaving the indentation look... glue a piece of rounded stock to the top edge for the bead look...

That's a great idea Joe, I was thinking of something like round stock or wire to make parallel lines mimicking the doors and body of the wagon,keeping it simple 🤔 I did do a few mods to the mods last night though,engine bay cover now adjusted and fitted as is the rear end, filler still needed. The pics aren't brilliant as I'm in the living room where the lighting is a bit yellow, cave oob at the moment.

The .04 Half Round would probably fit your needs, if you caan find it, Jed. I believe Ebay also has it.
