Well, Duke, if you ever decide to "scale up", Hasegawa also makes a typical bucket-loader version and recently released another with a V-shaped snowplow blade.
Thanks but I have no room for the small scale stuff I currently build. No way to scale up at this point, besides, I like the consistency of a continuous scale.
Oh, I fully understand that position...not that it keeps me from buying tank transporter kits for which I have no display space when finished! Unfortunately, Hasegawa rarely scales down a subject that isn't an aircraft. For vehicles of all sorts, 1/72 is convenient for creating large collections and allows for easy displays of those and aircraft together, for the most part. A Monogram B-36 on the ground with a tanker and fire apparatus would still occupy a lot of real estate, but it would certainly be cool. The only other small scale which seems to make sense is 1/87, the HO railroad scale. Problem for real modelers is, most of what's available in that scale is so simple that little modeling is involved, though opportunities for painting abound. Occasionally an airplane makes it into that scale; I recall that Walthers did a C-47 some years back, apparently for the guys who have enough space for a train layout that includes an airstrip. Let's see, a rough 3,000 foot strip is still almost 35 feet long in scale...gonna need a bigger house.

You're right Beekster about small scale being convenient for amassing large collections; I'm up to 824 small scale armor and vehicle models now with a bout four more approaching the finish line. Speaking of large diorama possibilities in small scale; one I'm trying to do is a SAM-2 launch site, that takes up a lot of real estate so I'm looking for ways to "condense" it a bit.
Now to get back tro the spirit of this Thread; I have a Takom dual kit of a Chieftain Mk.5 and an FV-432 APC that I picked up again. I got it to make the Chieftain an Iranian one but wondered what to do about the FV-432. Problem solved: I got a conversion set allowing me to mount a turret on top of it from Dan Taylor Modelworks that just came in. I'll try and get pics of that soon.

We had a few FV 432's with turrets on in Berlin. Not sure if they had the Scorpion or Scimmiter cannon

Or you could try a movie kitbash: The Pzkw. III's seen in recent movies are replica hulls & turrets on cut down FV 432 hulls; everything above the tracks replaced.

Thanks for the suggestion Beekster! I think I'll try to keep the plastic surgery to a minimum; I don't want to wreck this beyond recognition.
Jed, my conversion set came with the Scimitar cannon. I'm hoping to get started on it soon, along with the Iranian Chieftain.
Stay tuned, pics forthcoming.

Thanks Jed! First I'll show you the parts and such first now that they've come in. In fact I finally got a few things in, some I've been waiting for for quite some time. First up; I had gotten another Chieftain and FV-432 dual model kit from Takom some time back with the plans to make the Chieftain an Iranian one. What to do with the accompanying FV-432? I found a conversion set on Dan Taylor Modelworks that adds a turret to the vehicle and ordered it a couple weeks ago. Here is my FV-432 conversion set to add the turret to my FV432: This is the other side showing the conversion parts: Yes, it comes with a metal barrel. Next is a couple items I purchased at the IPMS Las Vegas Nationals. After a long and painful ordeal which I won't get into right now; I finally got these home! First up is an incredible book on the C-130 Hercules. It is quite comprehensive. I'm thrilled to have this as the Herc is one of my top five favorite aircraft: Last is something I've been anxiously waiting on so I could try it out. This was a most amazing thing I saw at the Nationals and I had to have one. This is a "cordless" airbrush from Spraygunner: This is how it is packed inside: And this is how it looks all set up which shows the "cordless" aspect off: The black cylinder underneath this brush is a combination battery and tiny compressor. It is charged up with a simple USB charging cable which is included in the box. The pressure is not that high and so far as I know, there's no way to adjust it. This is most likely ideal for detail airbrush work. I'm thrilled that I have one of these tools! That's all I have for now. Time to go post my latest progress now...

Here’s a few I picked up at Walmart recently. Not often they have models anymore. A friend picked this one up for me online.

Nice grabs, mach2! The Wal-Mart near here has a display of Round2 kits. Our Walmart sold out in one day, the entire display.

Ours gave up models years ago... dang it!!! Ours had long stopped stocking them. But they put out a display of them last year at Christmas and they sold quick. I guess with troubles getting other stock, they need the inventory. They put out that same size display a couple weeks ago and they were gone!
