Looks like a very informative book Jed.
Are you going to use it on the trench you've been working on or start another?

Looks like a very informative book Jed. Are you going to use it on the trench you've been working on or start another? I actually got the inspiration for the one I started from the author who makes items for Tommyswar,he is aware of it and told me to carry on. The book is really good even just as a read for the history side. Certainly given me more inspiration to do more. If you check out Tommyswar.co.uk you will see the figure together with another on a base which is very recognisable 😳

Interesting website Jed. It's a subject I'm not familiar with at all. Unless I missed it (highly possible) what scale are the figures?

Jim, that is an awesome airbrush! Excellent score there! Looking forward to hearing how that goes.
Jed, that is a cool book. Should be most informative of a little known subject.

The Triplex is interesting, and different. It is somewhat robust too. I took a pic of a Vision, the Triplex, an Anthem 155, an Iwata HP-C Plus and a rather smallish Paasche V. Except for the V they are all fairly large ABs. Another interesting side note. The cup is canted to the left while holding it to use. I think this is so you can see past it easier if you are looking directly down along the top of it to the tip.

Some of the figure aren't exact as different sculptors are used, this isn't a problem as its not noticeable and since when have we all been the same size!!? The detail is always very good though.

The figures look good to me. Thank you for the size answer Jed.
There are enough figures there to do a wide range of dios with. Pretty cool.

This arrived yesterday: I had hoped that this would provide some useful stuff to copy & cast for the second yarder, but no joy...components are too small, the track is rubber (literally!), and no chain drive. This compact excavator probably doesn't use a drive chain with the rubber track; looks like the sprocket fits into recesses in the bottom of the track. That said... Viewed on it's own terms as a kit, it's pretty nice. It comes in three colors of plastic (plus clear for the windows), the quality of molding is just what you expect from Hasegawa, and the rubber sprue that has the tracks also has all the hydraulic lines and the stuff is nice and flexible. The box shows a bucket, but there is also a gripper claw arm for the boom and that is more attractive to me. There's an operator figure dude, but a different kit in this series has a woman. This kit has been boxed as the claw version (according to box art), and there's another one that has two booms. Also in the series are a wheeled log loader (now on my wish list, having seen the quality of this kit), a pavement roller, and a Japanese agricultural combine.

All things, it seems, may be found on eBay...which is where I sourced this kit. The real thing is apparently sold here in North America, both by Hitachi and apparently by John Deere as the model 130G. Unfortunately, the kit only has markings for Hitachi.
Fun fact: just like a lot of airplane models, this one specifies ballast to keep it from tipping over! Thirty grams in the engine compartment does it, according to the instruction sheet.

Sorta Kinda a latest grab........ I've been thinking about doing some casting for awhile. Guess it's time to jump in with both feet.

That is a nice looking excavator beekster. Sorry it's not useful for your other yarder but it should build into a good display piece.

Thank you for this pic JED. It does help. Being from this side of the pond I'm not really up on my MMs and I'm usually too lazy to find a measuring device with them on it to look.

I may be wrong but it looks like a pressure pot to get rid of air bubbles in your castings. Whatever it's purpose, I look forward to seeing how it works for you.
