I had to go near a Hobby Lobby today. I always seem to go there when the kits aren't on sale. Today was a good day. I picked up this kit, which I've wanted and at 40% off it's a bargain. It should go well with the 1/48 Stuka I got a short time back. Yes I know, they weren't primary targets of each other but the Stuka is my favorite airplane followed by the B-17. I'm looking for a 1/24 Stuka and I figure the wingspan of the B-17 should help a bit with relative size. A learning curve so to speak. And that's when I get around to building one

A friend purchased this kit as he wanted to give modelling a go but was too much intimidated once he opened the box so he closed it not so bravely...to give it to me as a present, I was blown away. What a whopper this is being it the 1/200 scale Trumpeter's Bismarck.

It's a nice looking kit, with a lot of PE in it. It will take me a year to build it.

That is an excellent gift Guy. It's amazing the guy decided to kick off the Hobby with something so massive and complicated. Talk about biting off more than you can chew! Your benefit though Guy! Looking forward to seeing this built.

These things arrived last week: As you all know I'm not fond of band tracks, and for HVSS the AFV Club tracks are quite fragile and difficult to build because the track pins are too small. I have a couple of HVSS projects on the back burner, so I ordered these for stock. They assemble quite differently from AFV Club, so when I get around to it we'll see how these work out. Also a shipment from RB Model in Poland: Shackles for general purposes, and sheaves for yarders. There's enough there for the second Madill 071 and for the four sheaves on the spar on a 171, if I ever get enough reference material to do one of those. I'll need a few more of the large sheaves for that, but I'm hoping that before I would need them that RB Model restocks some of their other shackles, the kind that uses threads rather than pins to secure the shaft.

Okay, here's my latest acquisitions, all from the San Diego show. First are my two raffle prizes. I got these for putting my tickets in the Miscellaneous box, hoping to get a ship or two. Instead, I got these: Those were taped together back-to-back. Good backups for me. Next were these True Color Paints: I don't expect to be using these as they are colors for cars as you can see here: Maybe someday I'll find something to use them on. However, I'll happily sell them to anyone who wants to shoot them on their cars. I still have two other sets of True Color Paints that were won in raffles. None of them were anything I would use either, but I do still have them. Moving on,. I saw this old classic and had to have another one: I plan on checking to see if the French, the Canadians, Australians or British used these. That way I can add this to the collection under one of those flags. The last thing I got for $30.00 was this kit: However, there are two kits in that box. The previous owner had bought the two so he could open both bomb bays on his Stealth, that left him enough parts to build two kits, which are both in that box. Now I can build two Stealth bombers and use the kit decals one one and the special IPMS Nationals decals on the other. That's all for now. I have two other vehicles coming in soon I hope. I'll post them later.

Nice haul at the show Mark! Congrats on your winnings. The tank kit looks cool and the "two fer" on the Stealth is a good deal.
