This sure has been rewarding to watch. This figure reminds me of John Wayne.

This sure has been rewarding to watch. This figure reminds me of John Wayne. Ya, he kinda has that slight list to the side, but he looks more like Mel Gibson,........?

Awesome Ski.
I like that wooden handle also, is that a shovel? I keep going back to the beginning, then to current progress. I'm working on keeping up on the terminology of the Military stuff and the modeling stuff. This and AGs build is like model college for me.
Can't wait to see more.
Jim

Ya Jim, the handle is for the shovel. Glad you're stopping by and taking it in. And yes, Brother Guy is an incredible artist!
Cheers, Ski.

Jim Hi Jim, the wooden handle is for a pick axe, the head slides over the handle and down towards a metal band at the base of the handle and wedges itself to the handle, a great idea which was even in use when I joined in the 80's!!! Since replaced for the infantry soldier by a fold up shovel. I have at home a larger version which is normally kept on vehicles. Jed

Well, I stand corrected, it's what Jed said,........ya, what Jed said, HA! I thought is was the handle for the shovel, my bad, Tanks Bucky. I'll stick to painting, my technical skills are lacking, Bahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa Hi Steve, I may well be wrong as I'm not over familiar with issue equipment to the Para's back then. I joined the infantry in the early 80's and in a section shovels and picks were a 50/50 split. The pick handle was short and could sit across the small of your back as in your figures, the shovel was carried along the spine with the handle between your shoulder blades, awful!!

Thanks Gents. Like I said, it really doesn't look like much right now, but it will pull together. This camo pattern is probably the most trying I've attempted. More coming soon
