I'll dig around and see what I can come up with for an entry. Would be nice to see some of these great builds entered, however. How about it, folks?

All those completed builds last year and nothing to post Mark???
Most of them wouldn't get a vote compared to all of the Masterful work being posted in this MOM program. (And yes, that is 'Masterful' with a capital 'M').
If I'm going to post something; I want it to at least provide some measure of competition or challenge to everyone else posting here so that the membership has some real choices that are challenging to decide on. I want the membership to be able to think before just choosing, like I have to do. Based on the fact that most of my finished builds will get three to five comments when posted, compared to the seven to ten, or more comments that everyone else gets; I know they don't provide that type of competition or challenge. The ones I finish that generate seven to ten responses like everyone else gets will provide that challenge and those are the ones that I reserve for this MOM program. That is why I'm trying to finish something here soon so that I can see what kind of response each gets and see what is a challenge for the membership to choose compared to the other masterful work being entered here.
Does any of that make any sense?

You are hard on yourself Mark... just cause something doesn't get noticed at first don't count it out... they get more exposure in MOM!!! Your models are very well done and worthy of entry... don't prejudge your skills... after all its your build up top of our forum this month not mine, ha, ha!!!

Thank you Joe, but I don't think I'm being hard on myself. I'm just being realistic. I do try to make the best possible model that I can but I know that they are still quite basic compared to everyone else here who adds on all the extra aftermarket bells and whistles and does it exceptionally well. That is reality. Still, it doesn't stop me from putting my best effort forward; because I still want to get them finished though, I don't go all out like most here do. Reality is that people are most impressed with any model that has all the additional aftermarket work done; especially if they watch it all come together on a Forums like this. Once in a great while, I'll do something like the Nagmachon that catches people's eyes due to the apparent difficulty or extra good paint work. Yes, I'm up there now at the top of the boards. You have been at least three times. Others have been up there two and three times also. Hence, the reality that extra work done catches more people's eyes is shown in all those Masterful models from people here that have gotten the most votes more than once or twice. I'm not complaining; I love all the models I finish and I'm thrilled to show them off. I am just realistic enough to know that; unless I truly meet that perfect union of artistry and completion of a difficult model; they don't compare to the Masterpieces done by everyone here and on other boards I frequent.
Thank you again for the encouraging words. I have to get back to the bench now.

I understand but most of my wins haven't had aftermarket stuff other then figure kits occasionally. I seldom spend money on extras, I will build them with white plastic parts or extra parts from other kits I have on hand or its extra attention to painting that draws attention... Not everyone follows builds all the time, people are commenting on AG's build in the group build but not many have noticed I added decals to the Aerosan builds or even know I started the jeeps in the group build area, it is what it is... if I worried about pleasing everyone I would have quit this hobby years ago, ha, ha!!! I build cause I enjoy it, if others like it that's a bonus but that isn't why I do it. I do like to teach others that its fun and rewarding so the hobby will keep going on long after I'm gone...

Mark can I just say that I have been following your model building ever since the early days of the LEM and as they say in the cigarette commercial "You've come a long way baby." Your skills have improved every year since I've known you. I'm quite sure Joe and the other members that have known you for as long as I have, and even those that haven't, would agree with me when I say don't worry about making us think. Personally when I think to much It hurts my head. Your work is fantastic, and what makes your work even more fantastic is the fact that you do it in braile scale,, and make it look believable!! You said you compare your models to everyone else's. Personally I don't do that. The only persons model I compare my model to is my last one!! I compare it to see where I messed up and where I improved. Really Mark its that simple. As far as I am concerned your work is masterfull. I have almost 15 years of memories to back that statement up buddy. So what I'm saying Mark is put your work up no matter what. I truly enjoy seeing your work.

John, excellent addition.
Thank you Rich and Joe. Rich, I appreciate that very much. In Joe's words: " I build cause I enjoy it, if others like it that's a bonus but that isn't why I do it." This is me as well. Still, if I feel something is deserving of being entered; it goes in. If I feel it doesn't warrant it based on my comparison to other models I've built, then it doesn't.
That being said, I have finished another 13 models the day before yesterday so now I have something to look at and post.
