The usual excellent Tammy quality is not missing from this kit.
Yes a base is under construction at this time, and yes I have a clever plan how to hide the left hand track defect where it broke when I tried to install it

Thanks gents
The plan is not to sink it in mud but to put stuff in front of it. That's the beauty of Diorama building, many ways to hide a whoops or two

Am I right in thinking that the red and white poles are for marking the tanks position while getting tgt information or for moving out and returning to in the dark hours?

A ranging rod is a surveying instrument used for marking the position of stations, and for sightings of those stations, as well as for ranging straight lines. Initially these were made of light, thin and straight bamboo, or of well seasoned wood such as teak, pine or deodar.

Yup what he said. Since you can't shoot an accurate azimuth with a compass while in a steel vehicle these would be driven into the ground at the proper location and then the gunners would use them to aim at targets they could not see. Decided to put a building corner in the mix so I cast this from Thompson's water putty and let it cure for a couple of days. To me it's simple, if you want to make something look like it's been shot up, then if at all possible shoot it up. I have a .17 caliber air pistol which I took and shot the casting with achieving the above results. I'll probably fill in the lower hits as they don't look right but I like the ragged top edge. How To Put More Fun In Modeling tip 512 here boys Regards, Mark

I like it: How to still shoot at models, but now it's a constructive part of a build sequence. Two thumbs up.

Initially these were made of light, thin and straight bamboo, or of well seasoned wood such as teak, pine or deodar. I think that is what I was thinking, in ground role mortars we put an Aiming Post 100 metres to the front, the No1 would direct the person with it to get it in line with the sight,a bearing was then taken through the two and a slip scale on the sight adjusted to that bearing, from then on any Tgt information applied to the sight would enable the mortar to be layer along the correct bearing and hopefully the rounds then hitting the Tgt! In the Mech role (mobile mounted) the same was done plus a marker put in front and against the vehicle which would allow the vehicle to extract and return to the same surveyed position, phew I need a cup of tea 😃

Fine bit of German SP artillery you have going there! I never thought I'd read about adults shooting their models with pellet guns or the like, but it certainly looks like a useful method for damaging structures. I recall blowing an Entex 1/100 Bell JetRanger to smithereens with a firecracker as a kid, as using tube glue as a flamethrower to ignite and melt old unwanted models in the fireplace, but actually shooting them? Never thought seriously about that, since I had no access to a suitable slug-thrower.
About the track: Is there any way you can use spare links from another Panzer II kit to make the join?

Thanks gents
I actually tried the match technique once but it was a lively fire that I did not get put out in time
The pellet gun method is too energetic for plastic models but on plaster and the like it works just fine
Beek I suppose that there is since they are made of the glue together type material but before I go to this length I'll see how well I can hide it in the diorama
