Very good Joe! Mine was so so. Took the week off to work on the software package we're writing. Spent 6 hours Monday and Tuesday coding. Picked up and unloaded a ton of gravel for the shop entrance, drove 3 hrs to see my parents and grandparents on Wednesday. Ate too much on Thursday. Friday was nothing but computer problems--my dev server gave me fits all day and cost me 6 hrs of valuable dev time. Saturday I did a little work in the shop and then had to take my father-in-law to hospital at 11pm Saturday night (Was there until they admitted him around 4:30am). The whole week I was fighting off pneumonia--still not sure that I've kicked it...

he is still in. I'm guessing he'll be in for at least another day. He is 81 and has only had 1 working lung since he was 25. He had pneumonia at 25 and spent 2 years in bed on oxygen. The damage destroyed his right lung so it's a fist-sized mass of scar tissue. He found the Lord around that time and promised that if he got better, he would spend his entire life serving the Lord--and he has. Over the years, the left lung grew to compensate for the right. It now fills up his torso from waist to shoulder blade and pushed his heart to the right to make room.

All this to say that when he has pneumonia, it hits him hard now. They said his left lung is about half full of fluid and his Mytral valve (that he had repaired 10 years ago) is leaking. So, the fluid in his lung is leaking into his blood stream and the blood from his heart is leaking into his lung. They've got him on antibiotics and are consulting with his cardiologist.

Until his heart surgery 10 years ago, he could still work circles around all us kids. Now we take it easy on him and use him for his wealth of knowledge (Biblical, auto repair, home repair, etc) rather than his physical abilities.

Praying God guides the doctors to bring him healing!!!

Yeah Def Joe! It's definitely the Lord that will be healing him:

Unfortunately we took him to MGH because he couldn't breathe. MGH = Marion General Hospital but I call it MGH = More Gruesome Hospital. Me and my mother-in-law told them FOUR times that he only has one lung and that his heart isn't in the right place. 3 hours later the doctor comes back after looking at the chest X-ray and says "You only have one lung and your heart isn't where it's supposed to be" YOU DON'T SAY!!

This is the same hospital where I went in and told them I broke my thumb. They told me it was just sprained...until they moved it and heard the breaking glass sound (Shattered it in 7 places). 3 years ago I went in with what I told them was a broken ankle and they told me it was a MILD sprain and to walk it off. Went to my Orthopedic surgeon 2 days later and he said I had the most painful break you can do and told me not to put ANY weight on it for 3 weeks.

And you went to that hospital for what reason???

I'm also praying for him and for you. He is an amazing man and I believe he still has work for God to do here. I thought my Thanksgiving was rough, having passed four kidney stones in two days. He has had worse and I'll be praying for his swift and full recovery.

This hospital is 15 min away. The next closest is an hour and the preferred hospital is 90 minutes away. He was having trouble breathing and was throwing up so we opted for the closest one.

Oh yeah he does! He's been such a wonderful man to have as a father-in-law and I look forward to many more years of having my "Paw" around to glean knowledge from!
