Ok. So, I REALLY wish someone would have told me say 10 years ago that the 40's represent the end of life!  As of 3 years ago (when I was 39), I had only had two surgeries in my life (reconstruction of left ring finger after I cut it nearly off and the other to fix man stupid!). In the last 18 months, I've had three (right knee menistectomy, left ankle reconstruction and kidney stone removal). Today I was told that I need to have another minor one by the end of the year. I mean REALLY. Tell a guy that when he turns 40 he will quickly be staring down into a big rectangular hole 8' deep.
Yeah, I jest....Or do I? BEWARE OF THE 40's IF YOU AREN'T ALREADY THERE!

Well, I'm in my mid fifties and suddenly everything is falling apart on me despite my best efforts to keep it together. I HATE this situation! I've always been the healthiest of kids; running around, riding my bike, climbing trees, eating all my vegetables, all that! Now, I'm not even capable of cleaning my house or doing my own LAUNDRY!
You think the forties are bad; wait till you hit your Fifties!

Ah Scott, you're only as old as you think you are and the Mrs. says I'm 13, go figure.
As a professional Rugby player I find it's a lot safer than playing football and you don't hurt your shoulders as much, and I'm over 50, HA! Right Joe?

Thankfully I'm still fairly healthy as far as colds and such. I'm also still able to stay pretty active. I look at myself and see a whale, but I can still work most 20 somethings under the table--I just pay for it more the next day than they do!

I'm an afternoon person, the wife used to be a night-owl until she started working for the post office... now she's up at the crack of dawn and passed out cold by 9pm... so I have very quiet evenings now... lol!!!

I'm up begrudgingly at 6:30am every day to get our youngest out of bed for school. I'm mentally gone by 9, try to get to bed by 10:30, usually make it around 11:30 and for the last 6 months don't get to sleep until 3-4am.  I worked 3rd shift for 10+ years, so if I'm up past 10pm, my body shifts to third-shift mode apparently. |

Yeah that is why I wake up early, all those years in the grocery industry up at 2:30am or 3:30am except on weekends...  |
