On hold for now, I screwed up doing the chrome trim with a molotow pen, Not to happy. May turn it into a junker. But putting it away for now. Sorry to all who followed if ya did at all lol. I always seem have a lot of stress lately and i screw everything i touch up. Maybe time to hang it up idk.
You give up too easily. Just do like Joe said: re-spray it and try again; this time you could consider a new tactic too. Mask the trim lines then try again.
As for people following this, you have more people than I have following your work so you should take advantage of that and consider all suggestions and assistance everyone here is willing to offer. As for stress; yes, that will kill a model session faster than the Roadrunner running from Wile E. Coyote. When you go into your room; you should just turn on soothing and/or motivating music, close the door and focus only on your modeling. This is your time; time you deserve to have and anyone who wants to take that away from you for selfish reasons doesn't deserve your consideration!
Now, take a deep breath, take some time off modeling if you need to; get yourself back on track and stop worrying about what we think and just do it!

NICE save, Ben!! We all knew you could do it!! Looks like the only bare spots are around the top. You could mask the body and spray some textured flat black on the top for a 'vinyl' top look, then try the chrome trim again.

Good idea, but I have no textured black and wouldn't even know where to find such a thing. I will save this idea though

Walmart sells a textured spray for a few bucks a can...mask off the body and spray away...

Here's another method for a vinyl top: I used low tack painter's tape. Two side pieces, and one in the middle: The tape has a texture to it. It may not be exactly like a factory vinyl top, but it's close enuff for moi! I think I may have even brush painted the black. Sorry for the high-jack! Now...back to our regularly scheduled thread!!

It works pretty well, with a little practice.

Did you use thin strip for the chrome edging or just paint it Bucky?

I used Bare Metal Foil on it.

I went out looking for 2" wide masking tape today for that very idea. Went to three diff places couldn't find any. Gonna hit up Ace Hardware sometime this week with my mother. I found a video online that I'm gonna follow.

It's a good method to use. I've done a few with the tape trick.

Well I ty for sharing, I also saw that you can take some flat black spray paint, Mask off the entire body but the roof and spray it from like 12-14 inches away and just build it up to get the orange peel effect. But I'm gonna try the tape method first

Excellent Ben; I'm thrilled to see things worked out for the best. See? Never give up!
The tape idea for a textured roof is excellent. You can find that blue [painters tape in any hardware store: Lowe's, Home Depot or any Ace Hardware place would have it. Look in the paint department; that's where they stock it.
