Heck of a drive but I suppose with your roads being so big and fairly straight it makes it a better trip, lucky if I'd get half of that distance in that time over here !!

Haven't you heard Jed, we Americans have the 1st gen transporter technology in use over here. Within the next year, that 5 hours will be reduced to 5 minutes. Most of the body can be re-constituted in a matter of seconds, but the brain is much more complex...well, with most. ( The exception of course is anyone standing in Wal-mart in their pajamas at 2 in the afternoon. Those people can already be transported in 5 minutes because of all of the extra space between the ears. )

Jed, too bad you can't come over at least three days earlier. You could fly into Phoenix and attend the IPMS USA Nationals there and then drive on up to Montana from there. It'll only take you about 11 hours! LOL! Yeah, the US is big, far bigger than most people outside of it realize. I remember someone posting a quote from Queen Elizabeth when she was asked "What surprises you the most about the US?" Her reply: "It's vastness".
Anyway, have fun in the good old US of A and I hope to see pics of the vacation, as well as pics of you with Joe.

Yo be honest I've visited the US a few times,Arizona for a whole month,Maryland,New York amongst others and have loved every minute of it. Biggest complaint is that there is never enough time to spend in Ghettysburg!! Won't be enough time to do all of the historical sights in Montana either this time around but at least I can go back again and again!!

That's someplace we want to get soon is Gettysburg! Never been sadly enough. We have family in Tennessee now and went to Shiloh the first time we went down there. I think we spent 5 hours walking that battlefield and could have spent another 15. We usually try to hit something historical every time we go on vacation. 8 years ago when we went to New Hampshire for the first time after becoming this blended family, we took a day in Boston and did the freedom trail. (Old north church, etc) 2 years ago on the way up, we detoured to Philadelphia and hit those historic sites. (even did the Rocky run up the steps to that museum--the kids ran, I walked...then crawled...then convinced two people to drag me the rest of the way haha!)

I try and mix a bit of history wherever I go much to my wife's annoyance, still she has put up with it for 30 yrs so she must secretly enjoy it!!

Our whole family loves history. I prefer to go to historical sites where you can't "buy" stuff--The girls like to turn historical tours into shopping trips!

Heading to Gettysburg tomorrow for a camping trip Have fun, after my last trip there and return to the UK I went to an army reunion and on mentioning Gettysburg to on of my old bosses I found out his son is engaged to a young lady from there and I had just missed the whole family who had also been out there!! He even got a private tour around the museum, how lucky is that!!?
