Christ has risen!
I salute you all with this traditional form, hoping you have enjoyed some good time with family and friends. As my program kept me very busy, starting at 8.00 and arriving home at 22.00, I did not have time to paint lately and not even come back on any forum. But after this weekend I will have some free time and I hope I can work harder.
What you've gonna see it's a bit special, as part of helping the neighbours of a good friend in the province to build their destroyed house.
There will be three busts painted by me whose future owners decided to support this project. The money gained will be directed to the poor family and the supporters will gain a bust painted by me with their wooden base included. Everyone will be happy, for me it will be a good occasion to test something new, both as method and acryllics. I don't have any particular skill, but I'll do my best that all supporters of this little project be content and received something decent looking.
An Italian friend and good painter, Mr. Alberto Cazzavillan, generously, decided to support this project and selling his beautiful version painted from the same FeR project (photo attached).
You're gonna to see a new version of Arabian Archer from Sicily, bust sculpted by very talented Mariano Numitone, also the Confederate Officer from FeR (http://ferminiatures.com/shop/portraits-american-civil-war/9th-kentucky-infantry-logans-grays-shiloh-1862/)and their Swiss Mercenary (http://ferminiatures.com/shop/magna-historica/swiss-mercenary-1470/).
Here are the photos with the two minibusts I worked last weekend, do not be afraid of how it looks at this stage, it's just a sketch.
A few words about the method: it's a kind of „preshading” for the figurines. If it's mastered well, you could define from the beginnning almost all the areas which allow yous to focus more on details in a second phase when you add colours. So, I combined a white and a black primer from Vallejo, I made a medium shade (a gray), then I started working areas, a sketch, I did not insist, but I tried to define the lights and shadows areas at this phase (with extreme lights and shadows). It has not come out yet as far as I wanted, it depends on the training of the eyes, the understanding of how the light falls on the surfaces, how the volumes are created. Apparently, it seems logical, but only the intense exercise helps you "understand". Next time, after adding little touches, I will go to the work with colors (I will test the acrylics from Jo Sonja, I had received some recently). The uncovered part of the Arabian helmet will be covered with a special metallic primer. I leave you with my "zombies" and I wish you have fun with personal projects and a good week!
