Lid off reveals Tamiya's usual shoddy presentation...

How many pieces are in there? I sometimes find, no matter the manufacturer, that when I take the stuff out of the box, it refuses to go back in so the lid will shut all the way down! Glad to see this one get started, Prof!

Hard to tell exactly fella.
If you count individual screws etc. probably close to 500 parts.

Chaps. First up is the space frame chassis. A one piece molding that comes with plenty of bracing that needs to be carefully removed. And after a bit of clean up, we're ready for primer and paint.

Glad you figured out what had to go... I probably would have cut something vital off the frame...

No need to worry on that count, tamiya label everything that needs to go very clearly.

And a bit more for you. Laid on the gloss black for the chassis and then promptly sanded lots off again as the fit tolerances are too tight otherwise. Added the rear panel support, aluminum rear panel and floor panels. And from underneath. Apologies for the image quality.

Chaps. Today's update. Steering rack (workable), assembled, painted and installed. Bodywork sides in place.
For those wondering about size, it will be 285mm long when finished.

It's not extremely huge, at that length. Your progress is looking great, Mence!

It's not extremely huge, at that length. Your progress is looking great, Mence! Not by U.S. standards! A true 2 seat kit car, only weighs about 600kg.

Caterham is a continuation of the Lotus Super 7.....The one I almost bought was powered by a Cosworth 4 cyl.................imagine a super light weight and fairly stiff chassis with 190 + H.P in it !
