I am Scott from Indiana and have recently gotten back into scale model building. I always loved it as a kid and now that I am laid up for 6 weeks from surgery have taken it up again—man I’ve missed it!
I am currently working on an F/A-18F Super Hornet by Revell and have the F-22 Raptor and USS Missouri waiting in the wings. These three will give me the practice I need to finish my dad’s project from 30 years ago: USS Constitution “Old Ironsides” 1:96 scale!
I look forward to learning from all of you!

My only real issue has been finding paints locally. Since I’m chained to the couch with this bad ankle, have been impatient to get something to do besides watch TV. July will give me time to get some of the other paints I need.

Hobbylinc is my go to site 80% of the time for kits and paints... my local hobby shops here in NE Washington State are over 80 to 90 miles away... you can see my view in the picture at the bottom of my screen... that's the Columbia River below my place...

I have never had a problem with any of those sites I listed above misusing my credit card and they have always delivered within two weeks of ordering, Hobbylinc is in Georgia so you would get yours a bit quicker then me... lol!!! Some of the other guys can share other sites they have had luck with as well... if you are into car kits our own www.icemancollections.com/ has some great buys on kits you don't always see around and is great to work with also!!!

We have a few Hobby Lobbys in our area and I have trouble finding much more complicated than level 2. the level 2 models take me about 2 hrs. I’ve been looking at paints on a few sites above but will check out the others!

I plan to build a display shelf for the Constitution and maybe another for the Missouri, but the jets will probably go to my office at work and hang from the ceiling

Hobby Lobby to me is very expensive compared to online sites and as you said the selection is very poor.... If you group your orders with paints and a kit or two even with the shipping cost you come out ahead... small online orders not so good...

Hey Scott! Did you know there is going to be an IPMS show this coming weekend? It's put on by the Roscoe Turner club in Indy and it's a great show with a whole crap load of vendors. Here's a link to their site: www.ipmsroscoeturner.org/
