I usually fret over 5!!! Last year was my all time high at 11!!! Wow, I always thought you finished far more than that. My all-time high for all the years I built was 74 models completed in one year. It was on the LEM where I had so many encouraging and motivating replies to my posts that I just kept going. I have never beat that total since. Ah, the LEM. Those were the days!

I've always had at least two jobs going on Mark, that and remodeling a home makes it hard to build lots... lol!!!

Well I wish I had work like that! I haven't worked since October so no income during that time. Back when I did 74 models, I had a management job that had me working 14-16 hours a day with one day off. That was tough and why I was so surprised I finished so many that year.
Thanks Steve! Airfix kits have gotten better recently and are a real blast to build.

Yeah being self employed can have its drawbacks sometimes... being on straight commission is the new one for me, no sales, no money!!! Big sales, big money!!! Feast or famine!!!

Yeah, that's the same with me getting jobs. Only for me it's more famine than feast. At least you have an organization behind you that can advertise you to people. I have to pay out of pocket and when the work stops, so do the ads I place. It's a vicious cycle.

That's where social media comes into play and word of mouth from past clients... I have gotten clients from my facebook page as well as my LinkedIn and Twitter pages and the only thing those cost is my time to keep them updated...

Good ideas all, but I am a bit leery of advertising too much on the internet. I don't want a bad reputation for having to turn away too many jobs because I am only one person and can't get to all of them. Most all my connections on Facebook are all out of state. I do get work when I go to Florida sometimes, but those trips are few and far between. Word of mouth, passing out business cards and repeat business from past clients is my typical way to get work right now. If I could expand enough to have a steady staff to bring in for other jobs; I'd start using more of the internet.
Okay, now lets get back to the main subject here. I'm getting more done in my hobby room so stay tuned for more updates coming to a PC screen near you.
