Ah, velcomen Dusty, former SoCal dog myself. Grew up in So. Pas. and graduated from Palmdale HS, go figure. Lived up in Juniper Hills for yrs before doin my time in the AF. We could see Edwards clearly thru telescope. Use to have a scanner too, watched the LA Sheriffs lose traffic at night all the time. Them desert roads are tricky for a non-native to the hood, so to speak, HA! ' Keep the name DustyMojave, just make sure you ain't got no "Mojave Greens" in your pocket, HA! I remember when them buggers showed up, 79' I think. A buddy of mine use to raise them for the venom to sell to Palmdale General. Wow, flash backs, groovy man, trippy, eh?
Now we congregate a few blocks,.....well....miles from Jcon, FightinJoe and Brother Carl, up here in the Great White North. But, I ain't never goin back to Mother Russia comrade, Calif, that is, lol!
At any rate, glad to have you aboard Amigo. Cheers, Ski.

Dusty, those all look great! Even then you still had great smooth coats of paint. Very nice!
Ski, you are welcome to come and visit us who are trapped in the Democratic Republik of Kalifornia. I'll make sure the border guards will get you back out. I gots connections. LOL!
If not there, then maybe in Phoenix at the end of July. I'll be getting a furlough to come to the IPMS USA Nationals there. I'd love to meet you in person.

That is an AMT Meyers' Tow'd buggy that I built in 1969. The aluminum roof and skidplate are K&S sheet. It has the kit Corvair engine, added fuel filler neck and filler mount on the cage. The scratch built ribbon and wire seat belts I put in it originally have long since fallen off and need replacement. The yellow buggy is one I built in the 1970s. I still have it. I spend a lot of time on forums about VW-based offroaders. I've been involved in it since the mid 60s. I've had a business since 1986 building off road cars for play and racing, as well as lots of other cars, mostly race cars. Restore some vintage race cars that wind up racing in vintage races or in museums. Kinda like (errr....a LOT like) large scale models sometimes.

Duke, love to meetcha Brotha, gotta get you up here to meet the Motley crew, north of Spokane! Hey, I have direct connections to border guards myself, HA! Let's just say I know a few peeps in he right places, right JCon, HA! But, that's all on the down lowwwwwwww, Bahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa...........lol. Seriously, we gotta to make a meet, but I'm hog tied by ranch animals, so we'll figure something out.
Richard, you would have loved meeting my brother, he use to play a bit in the sand and was always tearing apart a bug and rebuilding it in the driveway. That's all I remember as a kid growing up in So Pas, VW bugs everywhere, even my Mum use to drive one. Heck, we use to have 4 beetles in the driveway every night and I remember they use to do the shuffle every afternoon according to who went to work first, what a trip, eh?
Sounds like you've had the perfect job for a long time, congrats, can't beat that. Love the model collection too!
Cheers, Ski.
