Hi Jed.
When you paint the corneas, you want to offset them upwards a tad, so a bit of white of the eyes will show on the bottom. Try using a small diameter drill bit or whittled down toothpick. This will give you the same size diameter and placement in each eye. A smaller drill bit can be used for the pupils. Practice making consistent dots and you will have these eyes down in no time.

P.S. Not all eyes are created equal, of course so this won't always work due to narrow eyes, etc. But the bottoms of the corneas will usually be round while the tops of the corneas will be truncated, to prevent that "pop-eyed" look.
