As the title of the tread says: What did you drive back in the day & what do you drive now? My 65' Mercury Comet Cyclone with a 289 under the hood: The day I got it: After conversion: Dad's 52' MG he let me borrow on occasion and my old Honda 350: ************************************************************************************************** My current beast: Red's Car and our daily driver:

My automotive history is far less interesting... My first car was a 1974 Mercury Montego 400 (no photo available) that I got for $500, drove for about 3 years - even with most of the body rusting away, and then sold it for $200. Then I joined the service...my vehicles included a German Opel Record, a British Ford Focus (Right hand drive), a Mitsubishi Gallant (Okinawa), and finally a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am once I returned to the U.S. I have no photos of any of them. My current ride is a Chevy Malibu LS purchased new in 2009. It only has 49000 miles on it, so I'm not planning to get rid of it anytime soon.

The Austin Maxi 1750 was build like a tank, when you put your foot down the front end used to lift up, it had a steering wheel like you find in a bus

My wife learned in a little Austin but hers was a slow dog with terrible handling... think it was a well worn 1800 coupe.

No picture of my first car . It was 1962 metallic blue Ford Falcon with an inline 6 cylinder . Talk about a dog but it only cost $780 . 2 speed automatic and a bench seat . I took the hub caps off and painted the wheels and white walls black with a spray can . Traded it in on the new 1967 El Camino .

That Falcon would have been worth a fortune today installed with a nice small block 289 under the hood in place of the inline...

True but at the time is was all about the price , 1963 . The Falcon I liked the best was the 64 Sprint with the 289 . But I became a Chevy enthusiast in 67 .

My first car was a hand me down from my father. A Woman attn getting 1993 Oldsmobile Ciera Then after I beat that into the ground and gave it to my brother I went out and got me one of these, 2000 S-10 4x4 Then sadly I hit black ice and got in a wreck on a desolate back road on New years eve 2000 going into 2001. So after waiting 4 months for it to be fixed when I finally got it back to me it didn't feel right So, I did the smart thing, I traded it in for this, 2001 S-10 Xtreme Now I probably should have thought about it before I had traded the 2000 for the 2001 cause it made my monthly payment shoot up from 329/mo to 529/mo.. Well, I was young and stupid. Well I had this one for about 5 months till i got a knock on the door from the repo guy. Yea I was slightly behind on some payments. "Remember I was young and stupid" So I was carless for about 2 yrs until I was able to pick this up, 1997 Toyota Camry Only had that for about a year, Now this is my current ride And its a badass too!! PS these pics are just for a reference. These were not my actual vehicles. But here's a tip. Don't make stupid financial choices without thinking because you are young and think you know it all. Trust me it doesn't pay off in the end!!!

Nice ones Gary!!! Joe, i know it sounds weird, but my White Chevy Astro van was one of my favorites. I have some fond memories of driving with my Old best Friend Bear in the back....Bear was a Rottweiler and the best buddy i ever had. he was 9 years old when he passed. I had all my seats taken out except the front two so he could run around in the back barking at cars. I miss him still.
