A friend named Eddie in High school had one of these for a while... 73' Norton 850 Commando, it was his Dad's but he let him ride it...

While I have nothing against American bikes I really do love a British classic bike

A friend of mine's brother had a bike called a Triton which was suppose to be part Norton and part Triumph. Anyone know of something like this?

Yes indeed, a home made jobby that I believe used the Triumph Engine in a Norton 'featherbed' frame. Other combinations of Norton and Triumph engines resulted in the same name, never factory produced. An old school friend still has his home made Tribsa, Triumph engine in a BSA frame... There were others one of which was the Norvil which I think was a Norton / Villiers hybrid.

The rare (and expensive) one is the Norvin which used the Vincent engine, super desirable.

A few years back my wife and I went to Jersey for a week, I remember walking past an an old shop which looked run down but was still being used and was full of triumphs in different states of dis-repair

The nice thing is that Norton are back in production creating some stunning machines, I read they are going to produce a V4 engined 200bhp road bike, mercy.
